Yalıkavak Stone House
A restored village house with a walled garden, twelve rooms and one very good chef.
A three-hundred-year-old village house behind a stone wall, restored without being sanded smooth, with a garden of fig and olive and one chef who has been there long enough to have opinions.
Why couples choose it
Because of the food, honestly. Most venues cater a wedding; this one cooks one. The menu is built with you over a tasting rather than chosen from a list, and it changes with what is available in the week of your date, which is a slightly nerve-wracking sentence to read in advance and a very good one to eat.
The walled garden also solves the Bodrum wind problem completely. Inside those walls, the meltemi is a sound rather than a factor.
What to know before you book
Twelve rooms. For eighty guests, most stay in Yalıkavak twenty minutes away and we run transfers.
Music stops at midnight. The house sits in a village, and villages have neighbours who were there first.
The garden holds eighty seated, comfortably. It will not hold a hundred and twenty however the floor plan is drawn, and we would rather say that now than three weeks before the date.
Who it suits
Twenty to eighty guests on an Intimate or small Signature shape. Couples who would trade a jetty for a better dinner. Compare it against Alaçatı Courtyard, which is the same idea on the other Aegean peninsula.
