Cappadocia

Nowhere else gives you this. A ceremony on a cave hotel terrace as the light turns orange over the valley, then a balloon flight at dawn the next morning with a photographer in the basket beside you. Cappadocia is not a beach wedding with a different backdrop; it is a different kind of wedding entirely.

Why couples choose Cappadocia

Because they want the two of them and a landscape, not a guest list. This is inland Anatolia. No sea, no beach club, no resort. What it has is a valley floor of volcanic rock carved into houses and churches over a thousand years, hotels built inside that rock, and between eighty and a hundred and fifty balloons rising over it every clear morning.

Most couples who marry here are two people, or two people and a dozen who love them. That is what the Elopement package exists for, and Cappadocia is where more than half of ours happen.

Who comes to Cappadocia

• Elopements and ceremonies under thirty guests. The terraces are spectacular and small. Above thirty the intimacy that makes the place work starts to evaporate.
• Couples who care most about the photographs. There is no landscape in Türkiye that photographs like this one, at any hour of any season.
• Pre-wedding and anniversary shoots. A large share of what we produce here is couples already married elsewhere who came for the pictures.
• Anyone marrying in winter. Snow on the fairy chimneys is a rarer image than a beach at sunset, and December to February works here when the coast does not.

Kayseri, Nevşehir and the hour by road

Two airports serve the region: Kayseri (ASR) is about an hour from Göreme, Nevşehir (NAV) is closer to forty minutes but has fewer flights. Both connect through İstanbul or Ankara; there are almost no direct international flights, so budget a connection into the travel day.

That connection is the reason Cappadocia does not work well for a large guest list. Two flights and a transfer is fine for a couple, and it is a genuine imposition on sixty people.

Which month, and the balloon question

April to June and September to October. Summer is hot and dusty on the valley floor, though the mornings stay pleasant. Winter is cold and genuinely beautiful, and it is the season most people never consider.

Balloons deserve their own paragraph, because they are the reason many couples come and they are not guaranteed. Flights are cancelled for wind at short notice, typically the evening before or at 04:00 on the morning itself. Across the year roughly four mornings in five fly. We build the itinerary so that a cancelled balloon costs you a lie-in rather than the plan, which usually means booking the flight for the morning after the ceremony and keeping a second morning in reserve.

Cave terraces and a valley platform

Cave Terrace Hotel has rooms carved into the rock and a terrace facing the valley where the balloons rise. It is the classic answer. Valley Viewpoint is an open-air ceremony platform on the valley rim, used at sunrise and at sunset, with nothing behind you but the landscape. Symbolic in practice, and why

Cappadocia is a symbolic-ceremony destination in practice. The nearest registry offices are in Nevşehir and Ürgüp and they perform civil marriages by appointment, but the document set is the same as anywhere in the country and few couples flying in for three days want to spend one of them on it. Who should book this, and who should not

If you are two people, book this and stop looking. If you are forty people, look at the coast and come to Cappadocia for three days afterwards instead. It makes a better honeymoon than it does a large wedding venue, and you will enjoy it more without a seating plan.
