The single most-regretted saving in destination weddings is the photographer, because it is the only supplier whose work you still have in ten years.

We work with a small group who shoot on this coast every week through the season. That matters more than a portfolio does: a photographer who knows that the terrace at Villa Lykia goes into shadow at five in September will put your ceremony where the light is, rather than discovering the problem during it.

Film is booked separately and we would encourage it for anything above thirty guests. Speeches read differently on video than they do in a photograph.

The trial happens after you land rather than months before, which is the opposite of how it works at home and is better. Humidity, heat and a tan change what suits you, and a trial done in a different climate is a trial done for a different face.

We schedule the trial for the day after arrival, leaving a day to change the plan. On the morning the team comes to you, and someone returns before the reception for touch-ups. In August that is not a luxury.

Some venues need almost nothing. A stone courtyard with olive trees in it is already designed; adding to it makes it worse. Others (a hotel ballroom, a bare deck) are a blank sheet and everything has to be brought.

We say which yours is at the first proposal, because it changes the budget more than any single choice you will make about flowers.

What we do not do is send you a catalogue of packages. The design starts from the venue, the season and what is actually growing in Türkiye in your month, which in May is very different from what it is in October.

Every venue has a music curfew and it is the detail couples most often discover too late. A farm with no neighbours has none. A yalı with protected houses on both sides stops at half past midnight and there is no negotiating it.

We tell you the curfew before you book the venue, not after, and it is written into the run sheet. If a late party is the point of the wedding, say so at the first call and it will shape which venues we put in front of you. The reasoning is set out in music curfews and noise rules.

The tasting happens before the contract is signed, and the chef who cooks it is the chef who cooks the wedding. That sounds obvious and it is not standard practice.

Halal, vegetarian and vegan menus run as parallel kitchens rather than as substitutions. At a multi-day celebration the vegetarian menu is frequently what half the room is eating, and treating it as an accommodation shows on the plate.

If you cannot travel for a tasting, we send the menus with photographs and notes and run the discussion on a call. It is not as good and it works.

We hold rooms under your name at a negotiated rate and give you a link. Your guests book and pay for themselves, which keeps their money out of your budget and their cancellations out of your problem.

Blocks have a release date. Rooms nobody claimed go back to the hotel, usually eight to twelve weeks out, and after that your guests pay the public rate. Closing the block on time is one of the few hard deadlines in a destination wedding, and there is a whole piece on how it works.

Transfers are booked against arrival waves rather than individual flights. Six guests landing within ninety minutes of each other share a minibus; one guest arriving at two in the morning gets a car.

On the wedding day the shuttle runs a loop rather than a schedule, which means nobody is waiting and nobody is watching the clock. The last coach leaves when you say it does, not when the driver's shift ends.

Transfer times vary far more than distance suggests. Kalkan is two and a half hours from Dalaman while Lara is fifteen minutes from Antalya. That difference belongs in your save-the-date, not in a surprise on arrival.

Fireworks need a permit, and the permit depends on the venue, the date and how close the nearest protected building or nature reserve is. Some venues will never get one. The area around the Ölüdeniz lagoon is a protected park and the answer there is no.

Cold sparklers work indoors and do not trigger sprinklers, which is the effect most couples actually want for the first dance. We will tell you which is possible at your venue before it appears in a quote.

The kına gecesi is the evening before the wedding, and it is the part of a Turkish celebration that foreign guests remember longest — provided somebody explains what is happening.

We stage it properly: the traditional dress, the musicians, the coin in the palm, the red veil, the song that makes the bride's mother cry. And we brief your guests beforehand, in their language, so they understand the ceremony rather than watching it politely.

You are already in the country, your luggage is already here, and the flight home is already booked. Adding three days on the end costs less than a separate holiday and takes no planning on your part.

The three that come up most: Cappadocia with a balloon at dawn, a gulet on the Blue Cruise route out of Bodrum or Fethiye, and İstanbul for couples who married on the coast and want the city as a contrast.
