Elopement

A symbolic ceremony, a photographer who knows the light, and nothing else to organise. Most often booked for Cappadocia and Kaş.

You fly in, we handle the rest. Celebrant, ceremony set-up, bouquet and buttonhole, a two-hour photo session at golden hour, and a cake for two at dinner. No guest list, no seating plan, no speeches.

Who books this

Couples who want the marriage and not the production. Some have already had a large wedding and want the real one. Some are marrying quietly for reasons of their own. A surprising number are marrying twice: once here for the two of them, once at home a few months later for everybody else.

It is also, quietly, the fastest package to arrange. Eight to ten weeks from first email to standing on the terrace is comfortable, and we have done it in six.

Where it happens

Around half of these take place in Cappadocia, on the Cave Terrace Hotel terrace at golden hour with a balloon flight the following dawn. Most of the rest are on the Lycian coast at Kaş or Kalkan, where a villa terrace above open water does the same job with the sea instead of the valley.

A charter yacht out of Bodrum is the third option, and the one couples pick when they want to be genuinely unreachable for the afternoon.

The day

There is not much of a schedule, which is the point. A hair and make-up appointment if you want one, a ceremony of about twenty-five minutes with a celebrant who speaks your language, then two hours of photographs while the light is good, then dinner. That is the whole day and it is enough.

What you still decide

The vows, the reading if there is one, the flowers, and the hour. We will tell you when the light is right for the location you have picked, and then it is your call.

Documents

None. This is a symbolic ceremony, so there is no paperwork on the Turkish side at all. Couples who want to be legally married usually sign the register at home before or after (a fifteen-minute appointment), which is explained in full in legal or symbolic. If you would rather marry legally in Türkiye, the country-by-country guide sets out what that takes.

FAQ

Questions about the Elopement package

Is an elopement in Türkiye legally binding?

Not on its own. It is a symbolic ceremony, so no documents are required and none are produced. Almost every couple signs the register in their own country separately, usually a fifteen-minute appointment with two witnesses. If you want the legal marriage to happen in Türkiye instead, that is possible and it needs the full document set for your nationality.

How far in advance do we need to book an elopement?

Eight to ten weeks is comfortable and six is possible. Because there is no guest list, no room block and no paperwork, the lead time is set by photographer and venue availability rather than logistics. Peak dates in Cappadocia in May and October go earlier.

Do we need witnesses for a symbolic ceremony?

No. A celebrant, the two of you and a photographer is a complete elopement. If you would like witnesses for the photographs, we can arrange two.

Can we add a balloon flight?

In Cappadocia, yes, and most couples do. We book it for the morning after the ceremony and keep the following morning in reserve, because roughly one flight in five is cancelled for wind.
