Symbolic ceremony under sail, lunch in a bay only reachable by boat. Small parties only.

A gulet out of Bodrum marina for the day. The ceremony happens under sail with the engine off, which is quieter than you expect and is the reason people cry. Lunch is served at anchor in a bay that has no road to it.

What the day looks like

Board at eleven. Motor out of the marina, raise sail once you clear the headland, and hold the ceremony in open water around one. Anchor in a bay for lunch and swimming through the afternoon, then back into the marina at golden hour with everybody sunburnt and pleased with themselves.

What to know before you book

This is a symbolic ceremony. A Turkish registrar performs civil marriages at the registry office, not on a boat, so the legal side happens at home first. See legal or symbolic for the full picture.

Twenty-four is the deck limit for a comfortable seated lunch. The boat is licensed for more standing, and more is not a wedding, it is a booze cruise.

The route is decided on the morning by the captain based on wind. That is not indecision; it is how you end up in the sheltered bay rather than the one with a swell. Guests who need a fixed itinerary will find this stressful and should be warned.

Who it suits

Two to twenty-four guests. Elopement or Symbolic Ceremony, usually as the second day of a Bodrum wedding rather than the wedding itself.
