Kaş is the quieter neighbour to Kalkan, and this hotel is its most sensible wedding venue: fourteen rooms around a walled courtyard, two minutes from the harbour, and flat.

That last word is doing more work than it looks. Kalkan is a staircase; Kaş is a town. If your guest list includes anyone who would rather not climb, or a pushchair, or someone who is going to be dancing in shoes they will regret, this is the venue on the Lycian coast that does not punish them for it.

Why couples choose it

Because the town does half the work. The welcome dinner happens at a harbour restaurant three minutes away, the wedding happens in the courtyard, and the day after happens on a boat leaving from the quay. Nobody needs a car for four days.

The courtyard is enclosed by the building on all sides, which means the wind that catches the exposed terraces further along the coast never reaches it. On a coast where an evening breeze is a real planning factor, that is worth noting.

What to know before you book

Music stops at midnight. The hotel sits inside a residential street and the rule is not negotiable. Couples who want a two o'clock finish should look at Side Ancient Garden or a villa with no neighbours.

Fourteen rooms will not hold seventy guests. We block the rest in the small hotels around the harbour, all within a few minutes on foot.
