Kalkan Hillside House

The interesting thing about this house is that it is four separate outdoor rooms stacked on a hillside, and a wedding here moves through all of them.

Ceremony on the top terrace with the bay below and nothing at eye level. Drinks on the level beneath as the light goes. Dinner on the pool terrace. Then whoever is still standing ends up on the lowest level, which has a bar and a view and no neighbours close enough to complain.

Moving guests between levels is not a chore. It is what gives a thirty-person wedding the sense of progression that a large one gets from having more people. It is a small format done deliberately well.

What to know before you book

Steps. A great many of them, between every level. This house does not suit a guest list with mobility difficulties and we will tell you that before you fall in love with the photographs. Kaş Harbour Boutique is the flat alternative on the same coast.

Ten people sleep here. For thirty guests, the rest stay in Kalkan town, a ten-minute walk downhill, and a considerably less enjoyable walk back up at two in the morning, so we run taxis.

Who it suits

Eight to thirty guests, Intimate or a large Elopement. Couples who want a villa week in Kalkan at a smaller scale than Villa Lykia.
